A man (name yet unknown) on Friday went to FCMB trade fair Complex to buy Dollars but unfortunately the bank didn’t have enough money, few minutes later an Hausa man who operates a bureau d' change approached him and told him he had 30,000 US dollars, so he followed the man to his office to collect the money according to an eyewitness.
When he got the money, he transferred the naira equivalent of $30,000 into the Hausa man’s account.
The victim never suspected any foul play so he did not bother checking the dollar notes well until he got home by 7pm when he discovered they were all fake but he couldn’t make it to the bank because it was already late.
So on Monday morning, the victim went back to the Hausa Man’s office to report that the money was fake, however the Hausa man confirmed it was fake and said he bought the money from FCMB, when they headed back to lay their complain at the bank, the bank denied giving them the money.
The man started shouting which caused the security men attached to the bank to push him outside and poured tear gas on his body. He removed his clothes and started crying.
The bank locked him outside while the Hausa man remained inside. People gathered and demanded the bank to provide the Hausa man and officer who poured the tear gas on the victim but the bank refused. People started protesting outside the bank and the police were called.
When the police arrived, it was learnt that the bank let the Hausa man out through the back door without people knowing. They took the victim away with their vehicle.
