Ex-Secretary to Government of the Federation and Afenifere chieftain, Chief Olu Falae has been kidnapped.
The Akure Chief who was a Presidential candidate of the now defunct Alliance for Democracy, AD, and Chieftain of a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Samuel Oluyemisi Falae was yesterday kidnapped by suspected herdsmen in Akure, the State Capital.
He was abducted on the day he marked his 77th birthday.
Falae was secretary to the military government of Ibrahim Babangida from January 1986 to December 1990 and was briefly the Finance Minister in 1990.
It was learnt that he had been having a running battle with the herdsmen over his farmland located at Ibafo in Igbatoro – Akure.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Wole Ogodo, who confirmed the incident said 50 mobile Policemen have been deployed to the farm.
Ogodo confirmed “Baba Falae has been having a running battle with the Herdsmen, and this morning, we learnt that he visited the farm and was allegedly attacked by these Herdsmen; but we have sent 50 of our men to the farm to start searching for him.”
Sketchy reports on Monday, confirmed that the Kidnappers are asking for a ransom of N100 million.
